Linger Review

LINGER (Wolves of Mercy Falls Book 2)
By: MAGGIE STIEFVATER

Wolves of Mercy Falls Series Book 2
Reading level: Young Adult
Hardcover: 368 pages
Publisher: Scholastic Press (July 20, 2010)

SUMMARY:
In Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.
At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love – the light and the dark, the warm and the cold – in a way you will never forget.

MY REVIEW
I even loved Linger a little more then I did Shiver. It’s written from four different points of view, Sam, Grace, Cole and Isabel. I didn’t know what to expect with that fact, I was hesitant and felt maybe I would get lost or confused, but the four POVs completely worked in Linger. Now I know this may sound bad, but this book was much like a Rated R scary thriller movie, there was lots of nudity, blood and gore, and even murder and this all surprised me. When I first opened this book I hadn’t realized how much I missed Sam and Grace. But I started reading it and I was just so happy to be back with the two of them again. There is so much going on in this book, and every second had me on edge. Maggie tugs at every emotion imaginable. She has you in awe of some precious moments, and then spitting and cursing the heavens with anger and rage at some other points. I am a very emotional and passionate soul, I wear everything out on edge of my sleeves, and this book really was a freaking emotional roller coaster, happy, sad, mad, its all there; and just when you’d get all settled back down and have tamed your beating heart, another thing comes up Maggie kicks you off again. I just kept thinking, it never ends…lol. No I didn’t cry but Maggie tried her hardest to get me to but everything wasn’t quite the right sadness for me. There was one or two possibility that I would have cried in the book if a situation had been a little different but I wasn’t attached as much to those characters enough to feel the right sadness for the situations in the books. Now I would have cried at the end, if it had been death instead of what did occur so I was happy for what did happen because their was no other option, and plus, I have high hopes, and faith in a happy ending in Forever.
