The Release of Fever by Lauren DeStefano

Fever is book #2 in the Chemical Garden Series

Synopsis

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but they’re still in danger. Outside, they find a world even more disquieting than the one they left behind. Determined to get to Manhattan and to find Rhine’s twin brother Rowan, the two press forward, amidst threats of being captured again . . . or worse.

The road they are on is long and perilous—and in a world where young women only live to age 20 and men die at age 25, time is precious. In this sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price—now that she has more to lose than ever.

Introducing Veronica Rossi: Author Of UNDER THE NEVER SKY!

Under The Never Sky is a brand new novel by debut author Veronica Rossi and is the first in a trilogy!  It has been available since January 3rd and somehow I forgot to include it in my January Releases post!

Synopsis

Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world brimming with harshness and beauty.

“The Host” Movie Begins Filming and Casting Update

YES!! STEPHENIE MEYER UPDATED “THE HOST” MOVIE PAGE!!

Stephenie Meyer revealed that filming for her “The Host” movie was to begin Monday, February 13, 2012, (as in yesterday) which is just so wonderful to hear. She proudly confirmed and announced that Frances Fisher was cast as Maggie, and provided the Link for the Cast on IMDB. It also appears that she plans on returning home, and return to her computer, and writing again in May.

Here’s What Stephenie had to say:

I will have some very exciting news to share about upcoming chance for you to get involved with The Host. Stay tuned!

The Host begins filming this coming Monday the thirteenth, and I am so excited. It’s somewhat of a dream to have the creator and director of my favorite sci-fi film (Gattaca) helming this movie. I love the script he’s written, I love his beautiful vision, and I love working with him.

I also can’t say strongly enough how thrilled I am with our cast. The talent involved is unbelievable. We’ve been so blessed/lucky/kissed-by-fate all throughout the casting process. Wanda/Melanie is a very complicated role, and for a long time one of our biggest worries in the producer camp was finding an actress who could bring those two distinct personalities to life. And then Saoirse came along and we all quit worrying. If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching her act, I highly recommend her recent release, Hanna. Actually, watch her in anything she’s done and you’ll see what I mean. After Saoirse joined us, amazing actor after amazing actor signed on until none of us could believe our good fortune. Just the other day I got to meet William Hurt (!!) in full Jeb beard and hair, and it kind of choked me up. He looks amazing—they all look amazing!—and I can’t wait to see them in action next week.

Another incredible addition to our cast—one which I believe I’m the first to announce—Maggie will be played by the wonderful Frances Fisher. Welcome, Frances, I couldn’t be happier that you’ve chosen to join us!

I’m very excited to see this transformation. Plus, while I’m LOVING ALL OF STEPHENIE”S HARD WORK on her filming projects these few years, I’ll be glad when she gets back to writing like she desires to in May. I could use more of her wonderful work, and I really miss her, I need more of her writing. I’ve read everything now, so personally I JUST NEED MORE.

Tiger’s Curse by Collen Houck Review- Jenni’s Review

Tiger’s Curse
By: Colleen Houck

Sterling Publishing
Release Date: January 11, 2011

“A fantastic and delicious read” Me

SUMMARY: The last thing teenager Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing over the summer was meeting Ren, a mysterious white tiger and cursed Indian prince When she learns she alone can break the Tiger’s curse, Kelsey’s life is turned upside-down. The unlikely duo journeys halfway around the world to piece together an Indian prophecy, find a way to free the man trapped by a centuries-old spell, and discover the path to their true destiny.
MY REVIEW (Spoilery): I loved loved loved Tiger’s Curse and I couldn’t put it away. It’s a fantastic and delicious read. I was obsessed with the book. It’s full of magic and romance and adventure. I hadn’t come across a were-Tiger book before, and I must say Colleen Houck did an amazing and awesome job. A key reason I really loved this book, is the adventure and the romance. Tigers, Indiana Jones and Twilight all rolled up into one fantastic tale. The book takes a huge dive into the Indian culture, which is unique and refreshing as a reader. The story involves the main character Kelsey, who began working at a traveling circus taking care of a white tiger that she later learns, is also a cursed, unaging, handsome Indian prince named Ren. He is perfectly gentle and sweet and in their adventure she falls deeper and deeper in love with Ren. Ren is cursed to spend most of his time in the form of the tiger. Kelsey and Ren set off across India to end the Tiger’s Curse with the help of Mr. Kadam. Mr. Kadam, who is Ren’s princely advisor/mentor has continuously been seeking to free Ren from this Tiger’s curse for all these many many years. They travel to temples, through many test and battling things like the kappa vampire monkeys as they progress in their adventure solving Ren’s curse. She soon comes across Ren’s, distant, fellow cursed, and similarly handsome prince brother, Kishan. Kishan tends to complicate things for Ren, and makes the book more intense and more delicious.
Characters: Kelsey is a fairly normal person, until she encounters the magical white tiger and her life changed. She falls in love with the cursed Prince Ren/ White Tiger. Ren is the delicious factor of the book, he’s sweet and gentle, protective and loves Kelsey. Every once in awhile, Ren recites and just purrs sweet poetry and pet names for Kelsey in his native tongue, that is overwhelmingly precious and just send chills up your back at the sweet words.
Writing: Colleen Houck is very amazing writer, with complex and diverse writing style. She has such a wonderful and precise writing language, and beautiful poetry usage. Not many author’s can or attempt to approach unfamiliar culture or territory, which just shows that Colleen put a lot of work into research, to ingrain this Indian culture, and it all resulted in a very creative and astonishing tale.
